My objective is to begin the mix exactly where production ended. Audio tracks should sound identical to the rough mix when A/B’ed.
ROUGH MIX
Please include a copy of the latest rough mix when delivering audio tracks. This also ensures that all audio tracks have made it over to me intact.
EXPORTING AUDIO TRACKS
1. Please leave all plugins, panning, processing, and FX engaged on individual tracks/subgroups/FX returns, as well as the stereo bus**
a. **For the stereo bus, please disable any ‘final’ dynamics plugins (e.g. limiters, bus compressors), confirm audio tracks aren’t clipping the stereo bus, and include screenshots of any dynamics plugins you bypassed (and their ordering)
2. Solo and bounce each track one-at-a-time through the stereo bus (this ensures that all of your processing is included in the exported audio tracks)
3. For vocals, please include dry bounces in addition to wet bounces***
***Leave tuning plugins active, disable all other track plugins, mute FX returns, then solo and bounce each vocal as given above
4. Please bring your rough mix and audio tracks into a separate session and A/B them to confirm that they sound identical before sending them to me
5. A video walkthrough of this process in Ableton Live 10/11 can be found here
